Terms of Use
Effective: 2026-04-23. Last reviewed: 2026-04-23.
1. Nature of the service
Greatidude (the "Platform") is a civic-data-journalism project that publishes structured information about elected public figures in India, drawn from public government records (PRS India, Election Commission of India, MPLADS, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly) and from publicly available media coverage. The Platform presents aggregated scores (including Reality, Perception, and Gap Scores) derived from a published methodology. These scores are informational only; they are not fact verdicts and are not legal, financial, electoral, or fitness-to-hold-office advice.
2. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. All disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, subject to any applicable provisions of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
3. Accuracy, opinion, and the Gap Score
The Platform distinguishes between (a) factual data points sourced from primary public records and (b) derived, opinion-adjacent labels such as "overrated", "underrated", "dark horse", or "gap score band". The latter are expressions of opinion based on disclosed methodology and are labelled as such. Promise statuses asserting a factual outcome (such as KEPT or BROKEN) are displayed publicly only when supported by a linked primary source; otherwise they are shown as NEEDS_REVIEW. No representation is made that the Platform is exhaustive, error-free, or up to the minute.
4. User conduct
You agree not to: (a) use the Platform to harass, threaten, or defame any individual; (b) submit grievances or responses containing false information or forged documents; (c) scrape the Platform in violation of its robots.txt or API rate limits; (d) republish Platform content without attribution; (e) use the Platform's outputs for any activity prohibited by the Representation of the People Act, 1951, or the Election Commission of India's Model Code of Conduct.
5. Right of reply
Any politician or their authorised representative may submit a verified response via the politician profile page, which will be rendered inline with the score card when approved. See Editorial Policy and Grievance.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, the Platform, its operators, contributors, and advisors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform, including without limitation loss of reputation, loss of electoral outcome, or loss of business. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for gross negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
7. Intermediary status
Where the Platform hosts user-submitted content (grievances, right-of-reply responses), it acts as an intermediary under § 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Grievance Officer details and the takedown procedure are published at /grievance.
8. Changes
Material changes to these Terms are announced at least 30 days before taking effect. The current version number appears in the header above.
