How grievances are handled

1
Submit

Use the form below or email the Grievance Officer directly. Include: the specific page URL, the specific content you dispute, and the category (defamation, privacy, inaccuracy, impersonation, copyright, other). Supporting evidence — links to primary sources, certified documents, authorised representation — strengthens the claim.

2
Acknowledge

Within 24 hours you will receive a reference code (format GR-YYYYMMDD-XXXXXX) and an acknowledgement email. Retain this code for all follow-up correspondence.

3
Review

Two editorial reviewers independently assess the grievance against the underlying primary source. Where the claim is one of defamation or privacy, legal review is additionally sought. You may be asked for clarifying information.

4
Resolve

Within 15 days you will receive written resolution: takedown, edit, public annotation, referral to right-of-reply, or a declined outcome with reasons. Every resolution that changes a public page is also logged on Corrections.

5
Escalation

If dissatisfied with the outcome, under IT Rules 2021 you may approach the Grievance Appellate Committee established by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, or pursue remedies available under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
